Visa Categories

To make choosing a visa (suitable to your needs) easier, below is the definition of each type of visa mentioned here and from which you can choose, therefore restricting your options:

A) – Diplomatic, official and courtesy visa

1. Diplomatic, official, and courtesy visas are granted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through diplomatic or consular missions, authorized for this purpose, to the holder of a diplomatic, service, special, or ordinary passport who travels to the Republic of Angola on a diplomatic, service or official visit.
2. The visas referred to in the previous paragraph must be used within 60 days following the date of granting, allow a total stay in Angola of up to 30 days, and are valid for one or two entries.
3. In duly substantiated cases, diplomatic, official, and courtesy visas may be granted for multiple entries with a stay of up to 90 days.

b) Tourist visa.
I. The tourist visa is granted by the Angolan diplomatic and consular missions to foreign citizens who wish to enter the Republic of Angola, on a recreational, sporting, or cultural visit.
II. The tourist visa must be used within 60 days following the date of its granting, it is valid for one or multiple entries and allows you to stay in Angola for a period of up to 30 days, being extendable once for the same period.
III. The tourist visa does not allow its holder to establish residence in Angola, nor to carry out any remunerated activity.

c) Short-Term Visa.
I. The short-term visa is granted by the Angolan diplomatic and consular missions to foreign citizens who, for urgent reasons, need to enter Angola.
II. The short-term visa must be used within 72 hours following the date of its granting, allows the holder to stay for up to seven (7) days, and can be extended for an equal period.
III. The short-term visa does not allow its holder to establish residence in Angola, nor to carry out any activity.

d) Ordinary Visa
I. The ordinary visa is granted by the Angolan diplomatic and consular missions to foreign citizens and is intended to allow entry into Angola for family reasons and business prospecting.
II. The ordinary visa must be used within 60 days, following the date of its granting and allows the holder to stay for up to 30 days and can be extended twice, for the same period.
III. The ordinary visa does not allow its holder to establish residence in Angola, nor to carry out any remunerated activity.

e) Study Visa.
I. The study visa is granted to foreign citizens, by the Angolan diplomatic and consular missions and is intended to allow the holder to enter Angola, to attend a study program in public or private schools, as well as in centers for professional training to obtain an academic or professional degree or to carry out internships in public or private companies and services.
II. The study visa must be used within sixty (60) days following the date of its granting and allows the holder to stay for one year, extendable for an equal period, until the end of studies, and is suitable for multiple entries.
III. The study visa does not allow its holder to establish residence in Angola, nor to carry out remunerated activity, except for the training-related internship.

f) Medical Treatment Visa.
I. The medical treatment visa is granted by Angolan diplomatic and consular missions to foreign citizens and is intended to allow its holder to enter Angola to carry out treatment in a public or private hospital unit.
II. The medical treatment visa must be used within sixty (60) days following its date and allows the holder multiple entries and a stay of 180 days.
III. In duly justified cases, the medical treatment visa may be extended until the treatment is completed.
IV. The medical treatment visa does not allow its holder to carry out any work activity or establish residence in Angola.

g) Privileged Visa.

I. The privileged visa is granted by the Angolan diplomatic and consular missions to foreign citizens and is intended to allow entry into Angola to implement and execute the approved investment proposal, in terms of the Private Investment Law.
II. The privileged visa must be used within 60 days following the date of its granting and allows its holder multiple entries and a stay of up to 2 years, extendable for equal periods.
III. If the application is made in Angola, the visa is granted locally upon a declaration issued by the competent authority responsible for approving the investment.
IV. The foreigner who is granted a privileged visa may, upon request, request a residence permit.
V. Holders of a privileged visa of types A and B may be granted a residence permit following article 83 of Law No. 2/07 of 31 August, with holders of a privileged visa of type C being granted the residence corresponding to article 82 of Law no. 2/07 of 31 August.
